Firstly a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated. It's so nice to hear your lovely compliments and by no means do I consider myself a master of the cake, but I'm all to aware myself how much it costs to learn the craft so it's nice to be able to give this gift.
For those who all missed out, please bear in mind that I do offer private lessons. Payment plans are accepted, however it does need to be paid in full before the tutorial.
Okay, firstly the runners up are:
- Annie Palfrey (I'm sorry but I could not stop laughing at your post!)
- Natasha Crouch (because I'm a cakeoholic too)
- Annette Ibrahim (I'm sorry Annette because you have just been through so much)
Because I had so much trouble deciding. As runner-ups, you are eligible for a 15% discount voucher towards private tutorials should you wish to take any. Please email me kate@vanillalily.com.au if you wish to claim this voucher.
FINALLY, the winner is................... Andrea Browne!
Congrats Andrea! You mentioned about all the love you put into your cakes and that it is 100% why my cakes are what they are, because putting love into the work/cakes that you do = time, care, attention to detail and striving for the absolute best (and tastiest). Please be sure to email me Andrea so we can arrange your tutorial schedule.
Thank you again ladies for your entries and I apologise for anyone who has been disappointed. I'll be sure to offer another tutorial giveaway in the future :-)
congratulations to Andrea. However, i am disappointed as the rules of the giveaway was 25 words or less and Andrea clearly went over. If i knew that anything above 25 words was not a disqualification, i would have written something more verbose and heartfelt as well. Please be more specific on rules on futher giveaways as i feel that those that follwed the rules got shortchanged.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a huge congrates to Andrea ... but have to admit, I am like the post above and think a competition that clearly states in 25 words, should be exactly that. Hence, why I never went in it because I just couldn't ever put down my thoughts in such a way. She managed to triple the word count. Anyway, half her luck. I never get that lucky! lol ... p.s still love your cakes Kate ... looking forward to the next event I can order some more!! Cheers, Mel Oberman
ReplyDeleteshe did not win on an even playing field - should be disqualified!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCmon serious and you call this a comp 25 words or less did you not learn to count in school??? Learn to run a competition before advertising it very false..
ReplyDeleteYour cakes are unbelievable, shame couldn't run the competition in the same manner.
ReplyDeleteWhilst I appreciate I have incorrectly not taken a particular rule in the competition into account, I frankly cannot believe some of your comments above, which are rude, thoughtless and hurt provoking.
ReplyDeleteI have rectified this wrong, mainly due to the comments made by Mel which weren't rude and kind in pointing out my mistake.
Rather than helping me work out how I could provide a solution, you have mouthed off to a kindhearted person who is giving a very valuable gift.
Further, you are all too ashamed of what you are saying to actually post your name which goes to show even you don't think you are doing the right thing with what you are saying as you don't want anyone to know you are saying it. Shame on you for your rudeness.
what is wrong with you all, how rude, vanillay lily has offered a terrific prize, how dare you be so judgemental, sometimes things are overlooked can you image what it was like to sit through and have to read all the entries and pick one, of course she couldnt count every bloody word! be grateful for the opportunity that was given and congrats to Andrea, clearly after reading the last lot of comments on here far more deserving and thankyou to Vanilla Lily just for the opportunity to be in it ~ Caroline
ReplyDeleteWow you are all very sore losers and should be ashamed. Kate doesn't have to run any of these competitions and does it out if the kindest of her heart to show het appreciation for her 'likers' support. Keep up the amazing work kate and don't let these people let u down. And Congrats to Andrea!
ReplyDeleteGood on you Kate from Vanilla Lily, to give away such a prize for no return is wonderful and shows how giving you are. I always say " it is not what you say, it is how you say it" Well Done Kate you seem to be an amazing person. Leash
ReplyDeleteMy goodness. A honest mistake by a hardworking mother running an amazing business, and no doubt an honest mistake by the winner in her entry, and look at the daggers in those last entries. How disappointing. Heaven forbid any of you make an error. Congratulations Andrea, and good on you Kate for such an gracious act of rectifying your mistake. I hope another deserving person wins your time.
ReplyDeleteEmma
Congratulations Andrea, what is wrong with the rest of you, Kate has admitted she has made a mistake, and has re-posted the competition to make it fare on everyone. Why are you still attacking her with petty comments. For those of you who DONT know how many hours goes into cake decorating, Kate is actually giving up A LOT of her time for this competition.. You should be ashamed of your rude comments!!
ReplyDeleteCaroline I agree 100% with you. Congratulations to Andrea - regardless of whether she went over the word count, and whether she realised it or not, she won a fantastic prize and I think possibly deserved it more than some of you sore losers. Kate you are more than generous in your offer to give someone else a go. I personally hope that none of the "nameless" people above are lucky enough to win. Well done to Mel for having the decency to put her name on her comment, and for going about it politely. Seriously people, wake up to yourselves and just be happy for someone else's good fortune! - Bridget
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad none of you nasty people won the comp, I'd hate to think of poor Kate having to spend any one on one time with you.
ReplyDeleteI don't need to be anonymous. I loath cyber cowards who slam people with words they would never say to your face and further more cannot put their name to it. Shame on you. Kate you are amazing and have a lovely heart. You are a blessing to the cake world and I wish I could take away the mean things people said. xx
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't get down about this Kate. You have more support than you might realise. My stomach is in knots reading these comments, I can only imagine how you are feeling. I almost feel guilty for re-entering, but on the other hand can't believe we all have another chance at meeting you!
